Thrive Market Review - Whole Foods Better Watch Out

If you’re like me, you love shopping at Whole Foods, but hate their astronomical prices. While it’s one of my favorite pastimes to wander through the aisles and look at all of the natural, organic, non-GMO, vegan, gluten-free, and wholesome foods that I will only ever be able to afford should I win the lottery, it does little to stock my kitchen or fill my belly. Whole Foods, whole paycheck, whole lot of pouting in the cereal aisle.

Right now, Thrive Market is offering 25% off + free shipping, so it's the perfect time to give it a try!

To all of you who also hear the cries of your wallets, let me fill you in on a little secret. There’s a way to get fancy, high-priced foods for less. And, even better, they’ll be delivered straight to your door. When I discovered Thrive Market, my entire perspective and kitchen changed. Soon, I was able to stock my pantry with all of the food I had previously only been able to drool over in the aisles. Organic coconut flour, you’re no match for me now! Read on to hear why I love Thrive Market so much and will be a customer for a long time to come.

How Thrive Market Works

Thrive Market sells their products at wholesale prices. This means that you’re buying your organic coconut flour for the same price as the stores do before they mark it up and resell it to you on the shelves. Let’s take a look at how the same products compare when you buy them from Thrive Market or from Whole Foods.

Whole Foods           Thrive Market

             $3.69                                           $2.55

Whole Foods           Thrive Market

             $20.28                                          $14.99

Whole Foods           Thrive Market

             $49.99                                        $33.04

Whole Foods           Thrive Market

             $13.39                                        $11.25

But, there must be a catch, right? Well, sort of. Similar to Costco, Thrive Market charges a yearly $59.95 subscription fee to all of its customers. While you may be ready to close this post and drive back to Whole Foods, let me assure you that the subscription fee is pennies in comparison to what you’ll save over the course of the year.

After only a month and a half of using Thrive Market, I’ve saved $175. That’s $175 I would have spent had I bought the same products at the store down the street. As you can see, I’ve already saved more than triple my subscription fee. Of course, your savings are related to how much you use the service. Sure, if you pay the $59.99 and never order even one shipment of products, you’ll lose out. However, as you’ll see next, it’ll be hard to resist ordering from Thrive Market once you see what they have to offer.

I’m the biggest creature of habit as far as food is concerned. I’m the dinosaur that continues to chomp on the same eucalyptus tree year after year, even when a beautiful blueberry bush has sprouted up next door. While I love food, my mind only has room for a handful of thoughts and decisions, and ponderings about what socks I’m going to wear the next day usually crowd out any ideas about food choices.

That being said, Thrive Market’s selection will turn any causal eater into a food connoisseur. I could spend hours browsing through the pages of snacks, canned goods, baking essentials, and cleaning supplies they have to offer before realizing that my bank may end up contacting me about outrageous spending behavior. Thrive Market allows for the best type of impulsive, binge shopping. Unlike these amazing flameless LED real wax candles I bought, I won’t have to wander around my apartment holding a can of beans wondering where I’ll display it. Because I’m a human that refuses to surrender my eating habits to an intravenous nutrition routine, I know that everything I buy will eventually be used and enjoyed.

All of the products from Thrive Market are pantry products, meaning they’ll last you a while after purchasing. So, since I’ve signed up for Thrive Market, I’ve had no guilt buying a whole host of products I’ve always wanted to try. As Thrive Market isn’t a physical store, their selection is wide and various. I’ve had the pleasure of discovering everything from hemp protein powder to caramel tea. I’ve also had the joy of choosing between four types of coconut oil and feeling like a princess in the process. Here’s a sampling of some of my favorite Thrive Market products.

They Give Back

For every membership purchased, Thrive Market donates a membership to a family in need. In addition, at checkout, you have the option to donate any portion of your product savings to charity. What makes Thrive Market unique though is that they don’t simply throw money at a problem and step aside to see what happens. Thrive Market not only offers free memberships to those in need, they offer educational opportunities to their recipients, giving them access to videos, shopping lists, and recipes so that they can make the most out of the products they buy.

Thrive Market partners with organizations such as Feeding America, Baby 2 Baby, and Blue Star Families to guarantee that their donations are being used appropriately and are paired with advocacy. When you purchase a membership or donate your product savings, you can be sure that Thrive Market is making the most of them to help the community.

When there are so many companies in the world looking to make a quick and big buck, it feels good to support a venture like Thrive Market that leads with a clear message, dream, and commitment to service. I believe that I make a statement with my dollars, and I like the statement I make by buying my products from Thrive Market. When I make a purchase, not only am I making a difference in my bank account by taking advantage of savings, I’m also making a difference in my community by supporting Thrive Market’s commitment to putting a dent in our nation’s hunger issue.

Free Product Offers

Every couple of days I get an email from Thrive Market offering free products for any purchase over $59. Most of these products are between a $15-$25 value and a great bargain if you were planning on ordering a Thrive Market shipment anyway. Given the regularity of the free product offers, I usually wait to order my shipments until I receive an email with a free deal. In addition to the savings I’ve accrued using Thrive Market, I’ve also racked up a hefty dollar amount in free products. Bring on the raw, organic tub of honey!

Convenience and Efficiency

There’s nothing better than grocery shopping while sitting on your couch watching Survivor. Wait, there is something better; there’s nothing better than your groceries showing up on your doorstep after a long day’s work when you want nothing more than to sit on your couch and eat your organic, natural, and non-GMO bunny cookies while watching Survivor.

I take advantage of online shopping to buy everything from socks to books, so why not buy my apple cider vinegar online as well? Every shipment comes packaged in hurricane, tsunami, Sharknado proof wrapping, so don’t worry that your organic avocado oil will turn into an accidental gloss for your kitchen counters. While I’ve never had an issue, I’ve heard from people who have that the Thrive Market customer service team is quick to handle it and refund your money.

In my book, there have been no downsides to purchasing a Thrive Market membership. In fact, Thrive Market could be charging double the price and I’d likely still opt in. When it comes to combining quality and convenience, Thrive Market has hit a certified, organic home run. In addition, I like that my dollars are supporting a company that strive to make a difference in the world. If I have to eat, I may as well do it right.
