Full disclaimer before we get started: treadmills aren’t my thing. Yes, I grew up spoiled in California and enjoyed 365 days a year of sunny runs. That said, I know that treadmills are a great option for a lot of people. For many, when the temps drop to crazy levels, they are the only option. With that, I’m going to embrace the treadmill mindset and dive into the pros and cons of the Nautilus t614 treadmill.
Another full disclaimer: I don’t own this treadmill. This review is a result of my extensive research on user experience. So, instead of having to sift through a ton of reviews yourself, save some time and let me do it for you!
Pros of the Nautilus T614 Treadmill
Understanding the pros of this treadmill also needs an understanding of what you want this treadmill for. Do you just want something to pound the miles out on? Or, do you want more bells and whistles? Here are some of the features that really rock on the Nautilus T614 treadmill. You can decide for yourself whether these features will work for you!
I know that easy assembly sounds like an impossible feat with a treadmill. Who assembles a treadmill? Well, assembly is a must because Amazon doesn’t have treadmill sized boxes.
Easy assembly is relative, as assembly of any treadmill may not be “easy.” That said, reviews state that assembly of the Nautilus T614 treadmill is…doable. Bring along a friend and give yourself a few hours. And possibly some beers for after.
Another great feature is that this treadmill folds up. Remember though that, during assembly and for folding storage after, this treadmill is heavy. Keep that friend around for moving it down the road.
Be sure to read the manual before pulling out that screwdriver!
You Can Climb Everest with the Incline
The Nautilus T614 treadmill has some serious incline capabilities. Reviewers have said that you’ll get quite the workout if you crank the settings all the way up to level 12, which is 12%. Holy moly!
If you’re a beast and want even more incline, the T616 goes all the way up to 15%. Good luck with that one, buddy.
Choose from 25 programs. Or, 22? Or, 26
Reading the reviews, and even Nautilus’ own product description, there’s some debate as to how many programs this thing actually has. Whatever number it is though, it’s a lot.
If you need variety in your treadmill running, the Nautilus T614 treadmill could be a great choice. Within this little guy are 25 unique programs including manual, quick goal, train, weight control, heart health, interval and custom workouts.
You can store up to 4 different user profiles within the treadmills system that will keep track of your goals and favorite workouts.
Great Customer Service
You’ll see in the cons below that it may be a negative that customer service is needed so much. That said, at least they’re responsive. If you run into any tech issues or faulty mechanics, give them a call and they’ll help you sort it out.
Keep in mind that labor is only included for 1 year and that the majority of the warranty expires after 2.
There’s no doubt that the Nautilus T614 treadmill isn’t perfect. Once you get to the cons, you’ll see that the list is looonng. With treadmills though, you often get what you pay for. The Nautilus t614 treadmill is fairly cheap as far as treadmills are concerned.
If you want a $5000 quality treadmill, buy a $5000 treadmill. If you’re looking for something more economical, you may need to deal with some flaws.
You Can Run On It!
Well, duh! But, let’s go back to basics here. We all get caught up in bells and whistles and forget about the main purpose of the thing we bought. While the fan, sound, and display may not perfect in the Nautilus T614 treadmill, it does what it needs to do. This is an inexpensive treadmill, so focus on what you need it to do and forget the rest.
Cons of the Nautilus T614 Treadmill
So, let’s get to the bad stuff.
The Fan is Lame
If you’re hoping for a “cool you off in the middle of an Atlanta summer” type of fan, you should look elsewhere. Or, get a separate fan. I mean, who would expect a treadmill to have its own fan, anyway? Don’t expect anything other than a light breeze from this fan.
The Display is Finicky
There isn’t one consistent problem that reviewers have complained about regarding the display. But, with all of these combined, we can assume that the display can be temperamental. Sometimes the speed buttons will malfunction, the sound from the phone hookup with sound tinny, or the screen will be slow and delayed.
It’s really a fun surprise to see what problem you’ll get!
You May Be Calling Customer Support a Lot
While it’s great that Nautilus will send out technicians to fix problems, maybe it would be great if things just worked in the first place. Now, I’m not talking about eliminating their jobs, but they must be overworked given how many reviewers report needing someone to come to their house to fix their treadmills.
Reviewers have reported that repairs can take a while to happen, whether they are simply sending you a new part, or dispatching a technician for a repair.
Final Thoughts on the Nautilus T614 Treadmill
The Nautilus T614 treadmill isn’t perfect, to say the least. But, you also won’t break the bank to get a treadmill that gets the job done. Remember, you get what you pay for. If you’re in the market for a treadmill and have some extra patience for some technical difficulties, this may be the perfect choice for you!
